The Nation颅al Park Ser颅vice is a bureau of the U.S. Depart颅ment of the Inte颅ri颅or entrust颅ed with the care of our nation鈥檚 nation颅al parks. Gov颅er颅nors Island Nation颅al Mon颅u颅ment is one of more than 400 spe颅cial places in the nation颅al park sys颅tem saved by the Amer颅i颅can peo颅ple for future gen颅er颅a颅tions. On Gov颅er颅nors Island, the Nation颅al Park Ser颅vice pre颅serves and pro颅tects Cas颅tle Williams and Fort Jay; pro颅vides edu颅ca颅tion颅al oppor颅tu颅ni颅ties about the coastal defense sto颅ry and the harbor鈥檚 rich his颅to颅ry and ecol颅o颅gy; and works in part颅ner颅ship with orga颅ni颅za颅tions to pro颅mote stew颅ard颅ship, youth engage颅ment, and mem颅o颅rable experiences.
