In April 2023, folÂlowÂing a two-year comÂpetÂiÂtive process, MayÂor Eric Adams and the Trust for GovÂerÂnors Island announced the selecÂtion of a new anchor instiÂtuÂtion for the CenÂter for CliÂmate SoluÂtions on GovÂerÂnors Island. The New York CliÂmate Exchange, led by Stony Brook UniÂverÂsiÂty, will be a first-of-its-kind, cross-secÂÂtor nonÂprofÂit orgaÂniÂzaÂtion dedÂiÂcatÂed to cliÂmate research, soluÂtion develÂopÂment, eduÂcaÂtion, workÂforce trainÂing, and pubÂlic proÂgrams on GovÂerÂnors Island.
