Ornamental Flower Gardens
Each year, the Trust’s horÂtiÂculÂture team plants thouÂsands of bulbs throughÂout the hisÂtoric North Island for specÂtacÂuÂlar spring disÂplays. In the sumÂmer, these garÂdens are burstÂing with colÂor from 50+ native plants and their culÂtiÂvars. The fall brings beauÂtiÂful foliage from both trees and shrubs, as well the flowÂers of native asters, goldÂenÂrods, and warm seaÂson grassÂes. These garÂdens are designed to include a plethoÂra of native plants to supÂport local birds and polÂliÂnaÂtors and are each a unique examÂple of intenÂtionÂalÂly selectÂing plants based on the speciÂficiÂties of their ecosysÂtem needs.
In Nolan Park and Colonels Row, we have sevÂerÂal shade garÂdens where you can see the kinds of plants that thrive in both dry and damp shady areas. VisÂit Liggett TerÂrace to see what kind of plants can surÂvive in a hot, dry enviÂronÂment with minÂiÂmal watering.
